Soul Reggae was the 1976 debut album by Beres Hammond – a reggae singer and producer known for his romantic lovers rock who found most fame in the 90s – originally on Water Lilly. It was recorded at Aquarius Sound Studios and mixes up roots, lovers rock and soul with guest sleek Cedric rooks on congas, Art Mclead and Val Douglas on bass and Hammond himself on the vocals. Across the many tracks he reaches some heart swelling highs on tunes like the opener ‘You Don’t Have To Lie’ and then sinks into more sentinel and pained slow jams like ‘Oh Take Me Girl
